Howard Simple – now live!
My latest theme, Howard Simple, is now available for download. This is a simplified version of my full Howard theme which I will be uploading as a WordPress theme in the near future.
Howard Simple is a fluid two column theme with a full width image header, page menu navigation and sidebar widget support. Take a look, download it and add your own content or customise it as you like. When you’re done give me some feedback so I can refine the full version even more.
Congrats on releasing your first theme!
Thanks very much …. approaching 800 downloads already!
The template I was looking for. Love it. Have a look.
Two things I’d like to do, but don’t know how: Delete the Comment Section at the bottom of static front page, and choose a color for the headings.
Any way thanks for the great template.
Anthony
Hi Anthony
Thanks so much for your comments on my theme, I’m glad it’s just what you were looking for. Please spread the word and follow me on twitter for more themes and upgrades coming.
I see you have navigated around the WordPress dashboard and found how to disable comments on your home page.
For the benefit of others reading this I will answer that question as well. In dashboard navigate to your home page, then click edit page. At the bottom of this page there should be a box titled “Discussion” where you can check or uncheck “Allow Comments”. If this is not there then you will need to reveal this by clicking on “Screen Options” on the top right and checking the box that says “Discussions”
As far as changing the color of you heading, you will need to do the following.
In dashboard click Appearance>Edit CSS. Click your curser into the CSS screen and press enter to move your curser below the comments. You then need to copy and paste in this code:
h2.post-title a {
color: red;
}
After color: you need to enter the color you require (red, blue, green, black etc followed by a semicolon) or enter the hexadecimal number which always starts with a #. You can google for these codes. Once you have added your color then click “Save Stylesheet”
A word of warning, only edit this in Edit CSS not Editor as if you do it there any upgrades will be compromised.
I hope this helps you 🙂
By the way your site looks pretty cool!
Will follow, and post the new template on FB.
One issue. Here’s what I did, and nothing changed:
Welcome to Custom CSS!
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a kind of code that tells the browser how
to render a web page. You may delete these comments and get started with
your customizations.
By default, your stylesheet will be loaded after the theme stylesheets,
which means that your rules can take precedence and override the theme CSS
rules. Just write here what you want to change, you don’t need to copy allAyour theme’s stylesheet content.
*/
h2.post-title a {
color: #663399;
}
Any suggestions?
That should work fine, did you click “Save Stylesheet”?
You can also click “Preview” to check if the change is what you want but to implement the change you need to click “Save Stylesheet”
Thanks for following
Yeah I did. Save. Preview. Nothing changed.
It’s not your problem, you’ve got other things to do. I’ll tinker.
Take care, and thanks again… I retweeted the original launch tweet.
